Gazprom says hopes for fast decision on pipeline shipments to India

MOSCOW, Jun 16 (PRIME) -- Gazprom plans to sell liquefied natural gas (LNG) to India, but it also hopes for a fast decision on supplies via a pipeline, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee Alexander Medvedev said in an interview with television channel Rossiya 24 on Friday.

“It is entirely possible that we will come to a decision that will allow us to implement the project soon,” he said, adding that India with its population of 1.25 billion people and constantly rising demand for gas is an interesting market for his company.

The executive also said that Gazprom has analyzed more than 10 different routes, including regional swap operations involving Russia, Iran, China and neighboring countries.

Deputy Energy Minister Yury Sentyurin told PRIME that his ministry is working on different options of land exports of natural gas to India, including through Iran.
